If eligibility is established and the applicant does not have a Benefits
Identification Card, he/she
may use this document to obtain services until the BIC is received
in the mail. This document expires
on the expiration date noted as the "good through date".
If eligbility is not established, the applicant will need to wait to obtain
services until the Department of
Health Care Services (DHCS) makes the final determination and a BIC is issued.
You may instruct applicants to read the message carefully on this document
and remind them that
the "good through date" is the document expiration, not their
eligibility.
REMINDER: Advise all beneficiaries with a BIC to take it with them each time they
receive Medi-Cal
services and ensure the card is swiped by the provider.
